Poor Cmor, Don noticed he has a screw in his right front paw. So we are forced to sit here on the lovely Desert (pronounced Dessert) Island at Bar Harbor Maine in our camp on the water. Life is tough. Don has called Good Sam and they are working on the problem so it is a good time for me to catch up. After Church on Sunday, we toured Downtown Plymouth and did all the tourist things. We saw the Harbour and The Rock. I forgot to take a picture of the rock covering and had to go back later. Another reason pics not in order. We went to the site of the original village and climbed the hills. The current (1700's) modern homes are really lovely. Saw ABCs (Church and cemetary) and The State House and Courtroom. Can't imagine building huge timbes witth no nails or screws. Saw a giant Janga set in a pubmade with 2 x4s. Good idea for in the yard. Went next to Plimoth Plantation. Saw another movie and then went to Indian village. Junior had fun going into various types of homes and interacting with the inhabitants. Nice fur covered sleeping platforms. This was a large place and we had a nice walk to the Pilrim Village Replica. I'm glad we saw the original site first. They even built the old village on the same slope of the hill. We went though the old houses and met some "real" pilgrims. They totally stay in character and people try to trick them, like pointing to a plane and asking what that is. Hmmm, methinks it is a very strange bird. During a trading session, I could have traded Jr. for some beads. I loved the MooFlower. Drove next to Hyannis Port and Cape Cod.. Gettting Gloomy by then so not many pics. I'm not liking all these evacuation route signs. Our plan had been tto take the train Sunday morning into Boston but after seeing the station parking lot, we changed our minds. Only one car in lot. Someone had cut off the catalyctic converter and everything else was hanging down. Instead we postoned Boston until Moday. We stayed again in Plymouth and drove to Riverside area of Boston and took the T into Fenway. Discovered no tours that day because of a private event. We walked entirely around the stadium and found a bar called The Bleacher Bar. It used to be the batting cages and we were able to see into the park. Great statue of Ted Williams outside park. Took another train further into Boston. One of the reasons I wanted to take this trip was because of my Mother. Whenever anyone talked about traveling she would talk about her trip to Boston. She always wanted me to see The Boston Commons and The Swan Boats. We walked the Commons, saw Frog Pond, The lovely swan boats and beautiful gardens. I liked the book shelves so people could read during lunch. Another check off my bucket list. We were going to walk the Freedom Trail, but it was 100 degrees with high humidity. I just couldn't do it. So back on the train and home to Cmor. We decided to visit the home of one of my favorite authors. On to Concord and the home of Louisa May Alcott. After that tour I wanted to see the cemetary where she was buried along with her neighbors, Emerson and Thoreau. We went to Sleepy Hollow Cemetary and Authors Ridge. While we were there it started pouring. Thunder and Lightening. There was so much water,
our wipers almost couldn't handle it. Then I was really glad we were not walking around Boston. There was barely a pause betweeen the thunder and the lightening. We spent the night at Tuxbury Pond in New Hampshire. Yesterday, we drove up the coast of Maine, stopping at various beaches and lighthouses. Some rain off and on. Saw the Penobscot Bridge with it's two different towers. One has an observation deck in it. We may go back and go up in it. Beautiful design to the bridge. We spent last night here on the island and had a wonderful dinner at a small hang out recommended by the locals. Those are the kind of places we like to ask for. It was great. Jr loved it. We ended the day on the beach at camp with a beautiful sunset. Hugs to all, It's tire time.
