Well we are heading west again. 6000 miles and we haven' t gotten very Far East. Obviously I am a lousy NAGIVATOR. Left Louisville, heading west again on 64. Started pouring, thunder and lightening. At times Don almost had to stop. Luckily not much traffic. Stayed at Lake Rudolph in Santa Claus, Indiana. There is a huge theme park here called Holiday World. Where do these people come from? We are in the middle of nowhere. We left there and went to Poseyville, but couldn't find Buster. The rain stopped and the fields were beautiful. Don found himself a souvenir and as you can see it is being shipped home. We are staying at the Casino Queen RV Park. We are right across the Mississippi from the Arch. I can look out our door or window and see it. Another thing crossed off my bucket list. My list is definitely getting shorter on this trip. Took the train across the river this morning. We couldn't believe how much was down under the arch. Stores, museum, two theaters and more. We had to do the strip down to enter. Even had to take off belts. Jr is getting used to the rides thru the machines. Went to the IMAX movie about Lewis and Clark. We went up in the egg shaped pods to the top of the arch. Not too good if you are claustrophobic as was the gentleman riding with us. I forced myself to chatter away about Jr and Don mentioned he is not comfortable with heights. The two wives decided we were in trouble. I kept talking and you know how hard that is for me! The most you can have in a pod is 5. The top is amazing. 16 small windows on each side. The floor is sloped since it is the top of the arch. You can see forever. I think I saw all of you sitting outside at Peets. We had a great view of the stadium and everyone entering for a game. Saw the old courthouse and across the river to our RV Park. Back at the bottom, we sat in a pod that showed the exterior of it. Can't believe how small they are and also how they go up. When you are inside the actual pod, the inner doors are glass so you can see the stairs and the working mechanism. We went into the museum, of course. Then decided we better do the whole thing and took a cruise. The river right now is about 20 feet above normal and actually has gone down. Yesterday was the first day in several weeks that the riverboats were able to go. We saw a 18 foot statue of Lewis and Clark almost underwater. Swathe new bridge they are building for hwy 70. They were getting ready to lift the last piece. Saw the old Union Light factory, part of which is still producing. Watched a baseball game being played beneath the arch with players wearing old fashioned uniforms. Saw two sets of brides and groups having pictures beneath arch. We went to the old Courthouse, ABM. Loved the reflection of old courthouse in new building. Found my old living room from when I was a child, but we didn't keep the car in the same room. Took another train and we are snug in Cmor with heavy winds blowing. It is going to be a windy trip to the showers. Have no idea what we are doing tomorrow but Happy Mother's Day to all the appropriate readers. Hugs from Donna
