mike the chicken is not the only character in Colorado. In 1874 a party of six traappers decided to forge on through a snowstorm in the San juan Mtns. When it was over, only one of them walked out, Alferd Packer, looking a little too well fed for his own good. After eluding capture for years, Packer was convicted of cannibalism. Legend has it that the judgge lectured him sternly: "There were 7 Democrats in the county ad you ate 5 of them." In his honor, the Univ. of Colorado at Boulder's student food court is named The Alferd Packer Grill.
Lon Chaney (1883-1930) came from Colorado as did Scott Carpenter.
