Grand Falls, Joplin, Carver, Precious moments

Hello everyone, Mission accomplished. the eagle has landed , etc. etc. We are in Branson. We will be staying put at least until the 24 or 25th. I don't know how much blogging I will be doing, because we won't be moving around much. Unless you would like to know Don's golf scores or what 500 MATURE people are doing with their Road Treks. The group that is here now are just having a Chapter Rally. Corporate group (ours) starts Monday. Driving in to Branson this morning was a bit like Vegas. Signs all over the place advertising shows. Yesterday we went to see Grand Falls. It was really pretty but Don said he was glad we saw them before Niagara. I was a bit nervous when Cmor went over the Low River Bridge. We saw where the big Tornado went through a few years ago. It is a curious combination of bare rubble and new construction. Downtown Joplin has their City Hall in a very old department store building. Inside were murals by the same artist that did the mural in Trumans Library. Everywhere we have gone in the past 4 or 5 states have had signs telling you where storm shelters are. Even our camps. We passed a business that sells personal shelters to bury in the ground.  We then went to The George Washington Carver National Site. He has been one of my heros. Seeing his life story in a movie, seeing his lab, and the wagon he took around to teach farmers. really taught me more about him. What an incredible man he was. He truly believed God was teaching and helping him every step of his life. I took the one mile trail to see where he was born as a slave and the family cemetary and the woods and streams where he played. It was really beautiful in the trees. I couldn't take pictures because by then it was really pouring. As a souvenir of my hike, I found a tick snacking on me. Luckily Dr. Don rescued me.

From there we went to The Precious Moments Chapel. I couldn't use a flash in the Chapel so the pictures are a little yellow. What  a great experience. It is inspired by Michaelangelo's Chapel. It really was incredible. 75 cherubs in the ceiling, with one unfinished because the Artist, Samuel Butcher said only God is perfect. The paintings and stained glass were so inspiring.  Raining hard again when we were trying to walk around the gardens. The artists has a home next door where he made "Granda's Island" for his grandchildren. He made a place for people that have lost children, find peace . Even Don enjoyed it. Far away in the bushes was a little cave with an Angel on the outside.
It was fun discovering it. Well, folks are walking by and talking to us, so goodnight to all and check in once in awhile. I'll try to find something interesting to write about. Hugs, Donna
