Kansas City, Stadiums, Truman

Got our first view of Kansas City Skyline. Went to the library and checked off another bucket list item. Loved the giant books, so did Jr. Went to garment district to see button and needle sculpture. Buffalo skeleton was sad. Saw the convention center, upper half covered with metal mesh, strong contrast to the many old ornate buildings. Don tried out the rental bikes scattered around city. Don was man enough to ask a woman bus driver for directions to the stadium. Then just to be sure, he got in Cmor and programmed Audrey. She has been very helpful. I may make her a little sign that says Nagivator two.  Toured the Royals Stadium. Don, Junior and I were the only people on the tour. Admitted we were Giants fan but were admitted anyway. The ticket guy made Jr wear a wrist band. Went to the Joe McGuff Press Area. Those reporters are treated really well. Jr. played with the microphone used to let both dugouts know about any changes. Below the window was a lock that could send the glass completely down into the wall. The Mike our tour guide showed us where balls came though the open space and hit the wall behind the reporters. They used to patch the but now leave the dents. The two shown here were hit two days apart. I don't think I would like the windows down.  Went through the visiting team locker room. Pretty spectacular. The black filing cabinets in the center are filled with two types of seeds and bubble gum to discourage tobacco use. There is a separate area for wives and/or girlfriends.  Went to parking lot and Cmor was the only vehicle there. Very easy to find. There are advantages to traveling now.

Next stop, The Truman Presidential Library. Large beautiful building built around a courtyard. Learned a lot about him I was too young to remember. I did flash back to my whole grammar school walking four blocks down to San Bruno Ave in Sf to watch General Mac arthur go by. Truman while not always appreciated during his lifetime is now being rediscovered as a brilliant man. Enjoyed seeing his office there at the library and also replica of the Oval Office. Saw model of his home before and after the White House and then drove to the actual home. Good, busy day, Hugs, Donnassepapratearea
